This beautiful house is located in the heart of Buckhead. The original kitchen lacked a functional layout and was last updated in the early 90’s. The client needed more storage and a well designed kitchen plan since they love to cook. They are also both avid gardeners and wanted to be able to access a new patio to their beautiful back yard from the kitchen breakfast table area by changing an existing window with French doors. The third part of this project was to tackle a small laundry room, relocate washer and dryer for a more functional mud room.
Their wish list included: Relocate all new appliances for a more functional flow, create an area to hide their microwave and a few countertop appliances, lots of shallow storage to keep their spices organized and within easy reach from the range, glass cabinetry to display her favorite crystal, an island with seating, custom height rollouts in several base cabinets, a 15” wide wine cooler with a cabinet front, and large pantry storage. The client wanted to keep their existing wood flooring but needed to be sanded and refinished due to previous water damage.
They chose a simple, clean shaker door style with creamy white painted finish on the perimeter and a cheerful green on the island. We selected brushed gold pulls and knobs for the cabinetry doors and as well as the kitchen faucet. The beautiful kitchen sink is a porcelain apron front sink custom made and shipped from England. We complemented the brushed gold hardware and cheerful green island by pulling them together with Calcutta Gold honed tile with a gorgeous herringbone pattern above the range. We wanted the eye to be drawing to the backsplash so chose a quartz with a subtle pattern in the similar colors of the backsplash.
The project was completed just in time for spring.
